If you are joining a club that is affiliated with MACI (Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland) both a UAS Operator Certificate and MACI Membership is required. The Operator Certificate is often needed to be legally compliant, and MACI membership is required for insurance.
Welcome
The Cork Model Aero Club (est.1949) is one of, if not the longest established model flying club in Ireland. Its main aim is to promote the enjoyment and safe flying of model aircraft in a friendly environment.
WHAT WE OFFER
We provide safe spaces for people who want to practice their hobby. The club has a number of sites (indoor and outdoor) in Co. Cork, catering for most UAV's such as, "drones", "gliders", "helicopters", "quadcopters", and "fixed wing planes".
MEMBERSHIP
As a member, there are a number of advantages above what you would expect outside of club environments...
Membership of the Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland (MACI) - which includes third party liability insurance.
Access to instructors and experienced pilots.
The opportunity to fly more advanced aircraft, that cannot be flown anywhere other than a dedicated facility - models with internal combustion engines for example.
Club, national and international events in various disciplines, such F3A Aerobatic, and Control Line.
That you have a voice - giving you a say in the direction the hobby will take in the future.
